provides services to York Region newcomers to assist their
settlement
and adaptation in the local communities.These services include needs assessment, orientation to local
environments, completing forms, interpretation and translation,
providing
information and referral, group sessions for social and networking
support and
linkages with the community and resources.
One-to-one
personal service to answer enquiry, help interpret and translate
information, and provide community resources and assist access to services
Drop
in centres and access to a settlement counsellor
Group
sessions for dissemination of information on specific topic presented by
qualified individuals
Special
support groups such as employment support group and social group
supporting various activities including trips, workshops, social dance,
information & experience sharing
Language training programs to
assist new immigrants, citizens and refugees to integrate in the society
Job
search workshops to assist immigrants to become established and contribute
to Canadian society
Workshops
to assist individuals and families to deal with problems related to
adjustment, adaptation and integration in the community;
Newcomer
orientations and workshops on settlement-related topics such as Education,
Health, Housing, Employment and Taxation
Process
and procedures for Starting a small Business, preparing Business Plan and
applying for a Business grant/loan
